Motorcycle and government vehicle collide in PG, police had no test kits to check for drunk driving

Posted: Thursday, October 21, 2021. 5:08 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: A traffic accident between a motorcycle and a government vehicle shortly after 7:30 a.m. in Punta Gorda Town has left a man with a fractured leg.

Twenty-year-old Devan Paulino was taken to the Southern Regional Hospital for a fractured left leg after his motorcycle collided with the left driver side of an Isuzu D-Max pickup being driven at the time by 32-year-old Tristan Usher of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Development and Housing.

Police recorded a statement from Usher and then served him with a notice of intended prosecution, but have not done so as Paulino, who was not wearing a helmet or other protective gear at the time of the accident, is still receiving treatment.

Notably, police were unable to test the blood or urine of either of the men for alcohol content, due to a lack of test kits.
