Aspire for Greatness Foundation starts Christmas Tablet and Toy Drive

Posted: Friday, October 22, 2021. 10:12 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: On the heels of their successful Back to School-Backpack Drive, the Aspire for Greatness Foundation (AFGF) led by former mayoral candidate and journalist Orson Picart is launching a Christmas Tablet and Toy Drive.

The AFGF says it was able to provide 375 backpacks, 2 laptops, and 10 tablets for students from marginalized families in Belize City through a collaboration between Belizeans here and in the Diaspora.

It now has identified a need for students’ access to reliable electronic devices for distance learning.

The target this time is 200 tablets for secondary school students, focusing on students from marginalized communities in Belize City who it says are disproportionately disadvantaged during the current distanced learning methodology due to the strains brought on by the global pandemic.

The tablets are intended to be a Christmas gift, distributed at school campuses from December 20 to 24.

Belizeans at home can donate to this meaningful initiative by contacting foundation members or Orson Picart at 628-5880 and Belizeans in the United States and other parts of the Diaspora can contact Faron Smith of the Non-Profit Organization – True Belizean at (323) 944-7619.
