Fatal road traffic accident on the Placencia road leaves one dead and another injured

By BBN Staff: One man is dead and another is injured following a road traffic accident on the Placencia Road last night.

Police say that just before 6:45 p.m. Darnell Swazo was driving from between miles 4 and 5 heading from Riversdale to Santa Cruz Village when he lost control of the vehicle. He slammed into a drain then overturned sustaining severe injuries before he was flung from the vehicle.

Police arrived on the scene to find his body on the side of the road. Meanwhile, the passenger, 24-year-old Carlos Reyes, who police say is the owner of the vehicle, survived the accident but complained of chest pain and abrasions.

A family member transported Reyes to the Southern Regional Hospital for treatment.
