Akeem Augustine, charged with murder of Ian Westby, arraigned today

By BBN Staff: Today 26-year-old Akeem Augustine appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, charged for the shooting death of 31-year-old Placencia resident Ian Westby.

Augustine, who is the second person to be arrested in connection with this incident, was read a single charge of murder.

He appeared unrepresented before Magistrate, Audrey Grinage. No plea was taken due to the nature of the offense and Augustine was remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until December 31, 2021.

Augustine now joins co-accused 37-year-old, Leon Garcia, who was remanded to prison until the same date.
