Posted: Monday, October 25, 2021. 6:49 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Police Officer Royni Cobb was stabbed over the weekend, and while his injuries were not life-threatening, he may be facing some disciplinary action from the Department.

Police say that Cobb was socializing with several people in a yard after midnight on Saturday, October 23 when a fight ensued. Cobb tried to part the fight and in the process was stabbed.

He was taken to the Corozal Community Hospital where he was treated and later released. According to the Head of Public Relations for the Office of the Commissioner of Police Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood charges may be considered for him breaching the current COVID-19 prevention regulations.

“A decision will have to be made by the commissioner of police because we are here asking the public to abide by the curfew laws,” Yearwood said.

One person was detained in connection with the incident pending charges.
