Radio host Joe Bradley may face public drinking charge

Posted: Tuesday, October 26, 2021. 9:46 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: WAVE Radio host Joe Bradley was allegedly seen drinking a Pirate Stout outside the radio station’s office over the weekend.

But he has been accused by a police officer of drinking in public, a charge he denied on the spot and intends to challenge when he comes to court sometime today.

Video of the incident shows Bradley insisting to the officer that he is on the “private property” of the United Democratic Party on Youth for the Future Drive, where WAVE’s offices are located.

He also notes that it was just one beer and offers to get his attorneys to sort out the situation.

The offense is proscribed in Chapter 150 of the Laws of Belize, Act No. 6 of 2002, which limits drinking in public to licensed premises and disallows drinking on a public road, street, sidewalk, culvert, or similar place.

Exceptions are made for public gatherings and in private vehicles.

There is presently a ban on the sale of liquor at certain hours under the COVID-19 regulations.

We’ll continue to follow the story.
