By BBN Staff: Twenty-seven-year-old Kareem Nathaniel Beeks, who was on remand at the Belize Central Prison charged with the murder of Jeovanni Augustine, was brought to the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today to answer to a number of summary offences.
In court, Beeks appeared before Magistrate Audrey Grinage and was charged with one count of disorderly conduct, along with two State of Emergency violations: one count of failure to practice social distance and one count of found at a place other than his house.
Bail was offered to him for the offenses in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety but since he is on remand, he was sent back to prison until his November 24, 2021 court date.
Police say that on October 17, 2020, Beeks and three others were found at a house on Fabers Road at a time when such movement was prohibited by SOE regulations. During that time they also failed to maintain the required six feet social distance requirement when in public and got into a fight, police say.
He was not arraigned on those offences because he could not be found by authorities to bring him to court, until he was remanded to prison.
