By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize has signed an agreement with the Colombian Military according to Belize’s Ministry of Defense.“Drug planes coming up from South America and using Central American Isthmus as a transshipment point are a regular feature of life in Belize. The Colombian military has now formed an official linkage with the BDF to share intelligence about these flights,” wrote the Ministry of Defence.
On October 25, General Ramses Rueda, commander of the Colombian Air Force, and a delegation visited Brigadier General Steven Ortega at Price Barracks in Ladyville.
After discussing transnational organized crime, they signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries’ armed forces. According to the Ministry of Defence, the MOU provides the framework for the sharing of information and collaboration in air surveillance and interdiction.
General Rueda and his delegation visited the Joint Intelligence Operation Centre (JIOC) which is responsible for tracking narco flights said the Ministry of Defence.
