Belize Weather: Cold front takes hold for next few days

Posted: Friday, October 29, 2021. 7:27 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: The first cold front of the late calendar year is here according to the National Meteorological Service.

Skies today will be cloudy for most of the day and night. Some showers and periods of light rain and isolated thunderstorms will impact central and offshore areas this morning, decreasing to only affect the south this afternoon. It will be cool and windy later with a chance of showers and light rain over the south coast this evening while remaining dry elsewhere.

High temperatures over much of the country will reach 80 degrees Fahrenheit, 70 degrees in the hills. Tonight it will be 72 degrees along the coast, 68 degrees inland, and 63 degrees in the hills.

Winds are from the northwest at 10 to 20 knots and the sea state is choppy to rough. A small craft caution is in effect for occasionally gusty winds and rough seas.

Tides are low at 11:29 this morning and 10:41 this evening and high at 5:54 tonight. The sun sets at 5:22 this evening and rises at 5:50 Saturday morning.

Milder conditions with little or no rainfall are expected on Saturday.

Our thanks to forecaster Crystal Rosalez at the Belize Weather Bureau, Ladyville.
