Justin Williams wins Into The Lions Den criterium in Los Angeles

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belizean American Justin Williams won the debut Into The Lions Den criterium in Sacramento, California, sponsored by his own team L39ION of Los Angeles, in 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 32 seconds (1:17:32).

Belizean Giovanni Lovell, riding for the Caribbean Team came in two seconds later at 1:17:34 with the peloton finishing 41st. Another Belizean Milus Clarke also finished in the peloton placing 46th.

Oscar Quiroz was 60th in 1:17:55.

Kaya Cattouse didn’t finish the women’s event but posted on Facebook that she was satisfied with her cycling season doing two local and 18 international races.

“My vision has always been to make the sport of cycling great for everyone,” said Justin Williams, before putting together the richest one-day criterium which paid out US$100,000 to the winners.

“Your dreams are yours. Never stop the pursuit of fulfillment and happiness. It won’t come easy, but it will be worth it!” Williams wrote on Instagram after winning the race.
