Sixth Community Hub opens in downtown Belize City for Jump Street/Rocky Road

By Aaron Humes: The Sixth Community Resource Hub comes to downtown Belize City, the stage for the “Prolific Minds and Hearts” Service focusing on sales of purified water and car detailing.

LOVE Foundation Executive Director, Deborah Sewell noted that her team had to be patient and enable the men responsible for the Hub, sponsored along with Kolbe Foundation and the U.S. Embassy, to generate income and provide skill training.

They have become so much more, according to Sewell: places of refuge for ex-prisoners, flowering gardens of crops, academic centers for the youngest, and just a place to crash for others.

And while there have been setbacks, most notably the attack last December at the Saint Martin’s Hub that killed one and injured four, it is important that those actively trying to turn their lives around not be demeaned because of their pasts.

And to the 20 young men who formed the Hub, she urged them to be the example that they have asked for and to foster the unity that will reduce crime and the causes of crime.
