Commissioner confirms drug plane landing in North

By Aaron Humes: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has confirmed that there was an attempt to land a suspected drug plane this morning in Northern Belize.

While, because of continuing police operations in the target area, the Commissioner would not specifically name where the plane landed, he confirmed that Mexican Air assets indicated that the plane landed and took off quickly. He could not yet confirm whether it refueled or dropped off cargo.

The plane is a small Cessna single-engine aircraft.

Commissioner Williams noted that the actions of the plane are unusual as typical planes reaching Belize are larger and carry drugs and are usually abandoned, sometimes burnt, and stripped of their cargo, though sometimes not quickly enough to elude police.
