By Rubén Morales Iglesias: 206,403 persons in Belize have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ (MOHW) COVID-19 Vaccination Report.

The MOHW said that by Monday, 182,485 persons had been fully vaccinated in Belize.

In total, 1,406 persons 18 and older were vaccinated since the previous report on Friday, October 29.

Up to November 1, a total of 28,313 persons between 12 – 17 years of age have been vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines. Eighty-nine persons in this age group were vaccinated since the previous report.

The MOHW is vaccinating with AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccines.

Persons wishing to vaccinate may visit vaccinating sites countrywide and may also register online for an appointment.

“Vaccinations are now available for everyone; 12 years and older. Persons who have been vaccinated for at least 8 weeks are asked to visit any Ministry of Health and Wellness’ health facility to get their second dose of the vaccine,” said the MOHW.

The MOHW also advises “that even after getting vaccinated, persons are to continue wearing a face mask properly in public, maintain consistent physical distancing, avoid social gatherings, and wash and sanitize hands often. Please be safe and stay at home unless conducting essential business.”
