Belize passes 500 COVID-19 deaths but active cases continue to fall

By Aaron Humes: An unwanted milestone has arrived with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic in Belize.

Sometime today, Belize passed 500 COVID-19 deaths, with a total of 505 reported after six new deaths were recorded. More on this in a separate story.

Meanwhile, 150 new cases have been recorded, compared to 180 reported recovered, resulting in a net reduction of active cases by 30, to 2,304. 473 samples remain under investigation.

The number of hospitalizations rose to 37 from 32 with 17 persons in intensive care. Today’s positivity rate is just over 10 percent.
