Drug plane bust reveals Belizean-owned weapons and vehicle linked to police officer

By BBN Staff: Police may have to investigate one of their own after a high-powered weapon belonging to the Government of Belize and a vehicle linked to a police officer were found at the scene of a drug plane landing early this morning.

The plane landed on the Southern Highway and authorities manages to seize it along with 22 bales of cocaine.

Officers also found five assault rifles with at least one of them bearing the inscription “Property of Belize Government – Sub Umbra Floreo.”

Initial investigations also revealed that an SUV on the scene was linked to a police officer.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams is expected to brief the media on the incident this afternoon.
