By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Santino Castillo finished 5th overall in the Triple 100 Masters D (60+) Category in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and claimed a spot on the Final podium on Sunday.
Castillo placed 4th in the final 100-kilometer race on Sunday winning 14 points to finish the three-day event with 34 points to claim the 5th overall spot. Santino also claimed the 8th lap station prize.
The Triple 100 features three 100-kilometer (62.5 miles) races.
On Friday, Santino, riding for his Team Santino’s, finished 7th in the first race over hilly terrain. On Saturday, he improved by capturing the fifth spot but remained 7th overall.
The winner of the D Category was Lorenzo Antonio Faña of AC Training, who Castillo said, has been the champion of all categories during his racing career in the Dominican Republic.
On Sunday as well, Dwayne Wade of the M&M Engineering Team was 10th in the final Triple 100 race.
In this category, Roque Matus of the M&M Engineering Team was 13th overall with 10 points and Wade 14th with 2. Matus placed had placed 10th on Friday and 7th on Saturday.
Seven other M&M riders competed in El Triple 100.
