Health Minister hands over Nissan Frontier pickups to Belmopan, Punta Gorda health facilities

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat on Monday handed over two 2022 Nissan Frontier pickup trucks with a camper to the Western Regional Hospital and Punta Gorda Community Hospital said the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) on social media.

Dr. Rene Godoy received one of the trucks on behalf of the Western Regional Hospital located in Belmopan while Dr. Jorge Sajia received the other on behalf of the Punta Gorda Community Hospital.

The pickups are part of the COVID-19 mitigation program.

“The purpose of the trucks is to aid in vaccine deployment and to contribute to the reduction of mortality and morbidity from COVID-19 and to mitigate the indirect impacts of the pandemic on health with a specific developmental objective of interruption of the transmission chain of the illness,” said the MOHW.

“These trucks are a part of a program to support the Health Sector to contain and control the Coronavirus and to mitigate its effect on Service Provision; which is being implemented by the Ministry of Health and Wellness.”

The MOHW said they continue working arduously on providing quality healthcare that all Belizeans can access.
