By Aaron Humes: While there were 268 new cases of COVID-19 reported this weekend, other key figures look good as Belize sees light at the end of the pandemic tunnel.

Most significant is that no new deaths were reported this weekend after a spike last week saw 14 reported. The national death toll remains at 509.

448 new recoveries meant a further reduction in active cases to 2,107 with 111 samples under further investigation.

And the number of hospitalizations and persons in intensive care remains steady at 28 and 10 respectively.

Belizeans are reminded that the pandemic is not over and protocols remain in place, along with the call to get vaccinated if you haven’t and get your second and third shots as scheduled.
