Verdes edge Garden City 1-0, lead FFB Top League

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes had a hard time with Garden City FC at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan managed to squeak past the capital side 1-0.

Krisean Lopez hit the game winner in the 84th minute and now leads all scorers with six goals.

After losing to Verdes last week, Altitude bounced back shocking the San Pedro Pirates 1-0 at the Isidoro Beaton as well. Jardehl Muschamp scored a superb volley for Altitude in the 57th minute.

On Saturday, Wagiya beat Caesar Ridge 3-1 to record their first win in the FFB Top League. The Dangriga-side exploded up front with three goals after going scoreless in the first two games which they drew against Altitude and San Pedro.

Dayro Gomez hit a brace for Wagiya in the 33rd minute (penalty kick) and in the 87th. Anthony King converted the other in the 69th.

Sean Young scored Caesar Ridge’s only goal from the penalty spot in the 76th minute.

Verdes now lead the FFB’s Top League with nine points from three consecutive victories. They are followed by Wagiya with five, San Pedro and Altitude with four each. Garden City and Caesar Ridge trail with one point apiece.
