Belize Investment Summit to be held November 10-11 at Ambergris Caye

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The government investment pitch to national and foreign investors, the Belize Investment Summit, will be held during the next two days, November 10-11, at northern Ambergris Caye.

The Belize Investment Summit is a move by the Belize government to attract investments as Belize endeavours to accelerate “investment growth, aligned with the sustainable development goals; improving our fiscal position, reducing our debt burden, and improving economic prosperity.”

Keynote speaker for the Belize Investment Summit, former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper arrived here on Monday.

The Belize Investment Summit is expected to attract business investors from the United States of America, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

“I am convinced, as Prime Minister, that it is the opportune time to invest in Belize; whether foreign or local, to establish strategic partnerships and find investment opportunities,” said Prime Minister John Briceño. “Join us on November 10th and 11th and seize upon the many investment opportunities we have to offer in this jewel you can call home.”

The Summit will feature an address by the Prime Minister in which he is expected to highlight “the government’s vision on enhanced and strategic investments, presentations from other high-profile international experts, public officials such as Chief Executive Officers, policymakers and enterprise movers, and shakers who together shape the investment climate in Belize.”

The Summit will play up the “exceptional and untapped growth potential” in agriculture, tourism, blue economy, business process outsourcing, manufacturing, and renewable energy. Apart from Harper, it will feature speakers in all of those fields.

Belize Investment Summit 2021 is a high-profile expo led by the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Finance, Investment, and Economic Development under the theme: “Belize is Open for Business”.

The organizers said the Summit will be held in a hybrid virtual and face-to-face setting allowing participants the advantage of an in-person networking among investors, government officials, and other key economic agents.

The Summit website said the idea is to make the Summit an annual event “that highlights industry development, technology and innovation and an improved business climate for safe, secure and sustainable investments”.
