By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize Electricity Limited’s (BEL) quick response restored electricity to the Belize River Valley area early on Tuesday morning after fallen trees cut down high voltage power lines in the Lemonal area.
BEL reacted quickly sending work crews as early as 2:00 am after a power outage was reported along the Belize River Valley including Flowers Bank, Scotland Halfmoon, Bermudian Landing, Lemonal, Isabella Bank, Willows Bank, areas along St. Paul’s Bank Road, Big Falls, and Rancho Dolores.
By 2:44 am, power was restored to Flowers Bank, Texas Road, and River Valley Development. By 3:04 a.m. electricity had been restored to all other areas in River Valley, except for Lemonal and Isabella Bank.
Power was restored to Isabella Bank by 4:30 a.m.
At 5:15 a.m. the “BEL crew found High Voltage Power lines down due to fallen trees in Lemonal” said BEL in its BEL Power Updates Facebook page.
By 6:12, power was restored to Lemonal, with the exception of six customers who remained without power “for the duration of the works as our crew cut and clear hazardous vegetation growing into power lines in the area and repair High Voltage Power lines to restore power to the entire Village. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time”.
