By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The newly appointed Cayo Volleybal Association (CVA) aims to start competitions in early 2022. This decision was made at a one-day workshop the CVA held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the Log Cab Inn in Cayo off the George Price Highway.

The newly developed steering committee led by president Wilson Pat said their objective is to organize volleyball activities for primary and secondary schools, interoffice, and men’s and women’s tournaments. They intend to start seasonal tournaments in 2022 in the Men’s Under-15, Under-18, Seniors, and Veterans, Women’s Senior (Open), and Interoffice categories.

The CVA steering committee said it expects to train coaches, referees, and match personnel for the betterment and improvement of the sport in the Cayo District.

This Saturday session reviewed plans, rules, and regulations, and the constitution, and set up a calendar of events for the upcoming year 2022.

So far, the CVA has ten teams interested in participating and affiliating with the CVA.

The newly developed steering committee said it is grateful for the support expressed by the Belize Volleyball Association (BVA). Other members of the CVA steering committee are Denroy Westby (Vice President) and Jhonique Anderson (Secretary-General).
