Ten new deaths from COVID-19 as number of cases and hospitalizations surge

By Aaron Humes: There has been a resurgence, at least in today’s data collated by the Ministry of Health and Wellness, of COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and especially deaths.

18 more new cases (239) than recoveries (221) were reported, lifting active cases to 2,115. A further 154 samples are under investigation.

But the eye-catching headline is that within a 24 hour period, ten deaths were reported countrywide, increasing the national figure to 519.

The number of hospitalizations rose sharply to 36 as did the number of patients in intensive care, to 14.
