Curfew to start at 10:00 pm effective Monday, November 22

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As promised by Prime Minister John Briceño last month, the COVID-19 curfew will start at 10:00 pm as of Monday, November 22.

The extending of hours that Belizeans can be out of their homes was announced on Wednesday by Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat.

According to Chebat, effective Monday, November 22, the curfew will be from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am from Sundays to Thursdays. Belizeans will have one more hour on Fridays and Saturdays as the curfew will be from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am.

Chebat also said that a vaccination card will no longer be required to enter restaurants as of Monday, as well.

Prime Minister Briceño had said last month that under the three-month plan, some restrictions, including curfew hours, would be lessened if the number of COVID-19 cases kept going down. The expectation is that for Christmas, said the Prime Minister, the curfew will start at 11pm from Sunday to Thursday and at midnight for Fridays and Saturdays.

In a move to lift restrictions, the Government already allowed contact sports to be played competitively.
