BEL announces a planned power outage for the Belize District on Sunday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) advises customers of a planned power outage for the Belize District on Sunday, November 14.

The power cut on Philip Goldson Highway from Mile 2.5 to Mile 37 is for BEL work crews to conduct power line upgrades, repair equipment and hardware on the transmission system, install new high voltage power lines and hardware on the distribution system as part of the road works in the area. The BEL workmen will also be replacing equipment at the Ladyville Substation.

The outage will be from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The areas affected will be from Mile 2.5 to Mile 37 on Philip Goldson Highway. The affected zone starts at Henderson Avenue and goes through the following areas and communities: Belama Phases 2, 3 & 4, Bella Vista, Driftwood Bay, North End Estate, Courtney Estate, Withfield Towers, Ladyville, Vista Del Mar, Lord’s Bank, Green Estate, Lake Gardens, Dew Drop Estate, Maxboro, Double Run, Salt Creek, Los Lagos, Sandhill, Maxboro, Gardenia, Biscayne, Crooked Tree, Rhaburn Ridge.

The power outage will also affect all communities along the Old Northern Highway including Boston, Rockstone Pond, Lucky Strike, Santana, St. Anne’s, Chicago, Corozalito, and Maskall.

BEL said that the area between Mile 4½ and Mile 7½ on the Philip Goldson Highway will remain without power supply until 3:00 p.m. That area includes the Witfield Court community, Courtney Estate, Palmgrove Estate, Driftwood Bay, and all customers up to Car One Rental, across from Midway Wholesale.

BEL also said that an additional 15-minute power outage from 2:45 pm to 3:00 pm will affect the area from Henderson Avenue at Mile 2.5 to Fen Lan at Mile 4.5 along the Philip Goldson Highway. This area includes Ariel Rosado Avenue, Chetumal Street from Philip Goldson Highway to Park Avenue, the entire Bella Vista, Belama Phases 2, 3 and 4, and North End Estate.
