Posted: Thursday, November 11, 2021. 9:57 am CST.

By BBN Staff: A Belize City man was arraigned in Magistrate’s Court this week after throwing a glass bottle at a woman and threatening to kill her.

Steven Flowers, 28, was charged with aggravated assault and threatening words against Anieya Gillett on November 6.

In court Flowers pleaded not guilty, but the prosecution vehemently protested bail on account that Flowers has several previous convictions for violent crimes and lives in close proximity of the complainant.

Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson still granted him bail in the sum of $1,500 plus one surety with conditions in place. Flowers was ordered to stay a minimum of 100 yards from Gillett and he must not interfere with any of her family members or any other witnesses for the prosecution or his bail will be revoked.

Stephen Barrington Flowers’ next court date is set for January 15, 2022.

The allegation against him is that on the stated date, Flowers threw the bottle at Gillett, which she managed to dodge and uttered the words “You nuh play with me or my ma or ah wah murder unu easy.”
