By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) reported on Friday morning that 207,816 persons in Belize have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. That’s approximately 50 percent of Belize’s population of vaccination age.
The MOHW COVID-19 Vaccination Report for Thursday, November 11, 188,099 persons have been fully vaccinated in Belize. That translates into more than 40 % fully vaccinated according to the statistics published by the MOHW.
In total, 835 persons 18 and older were vaccinated since the previous report.
Up to November 11, a total of 28,632 persons between 12 – 17 years of age have been vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines.
On Wednesday, the MOHW said the percentage of Belizeans partially vaccinated was up to 48.1 percent, while the percentage of fully vaccinated persons now stands at 43.3 percent.
The MOHW is presently vaccinating with AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccines. The MOHW also said it has more than 370,000 vials of vaccines on hand, primarily Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
At this point, Cabinet continues to encourage booster shots for all health care workers, persons 60 years and older, and persons with comorbidities.
