By BBN Staff: Earlier Breaking Belize News reported that there was a shooting on Amara Avenue in Belize City that left at least two (2) individuals injured.
The victims have been identified as 19-year-old Douglas Carter an unemployed Belizean of #84 Amara Avenue, and 27-year-old Shemar Nuñez, an unemployed Belizean of #10 Lovely Lane.
Initial investigations reveal that on Saturday November 13, 2021, at about 7:40 pm, Douglas Carter, Shemar Nuñez and others were standing in front of #84 Amara Avenue, when they were approached by two male persons on a motorcycle. The passenger of the motorcycle fired several shots towards them injuring Douglas Carter and Shemar Nuñez. The two (2) men on motorcycle then drove up Amara Avenue and made good their escape.
Carter was shot to the left leg and Nunez received a gunshot graze to the right foot. Both were transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for treatment and were admitted in stable condition.
Police processed the scene and several .9mm expended shells were recovered.
Police investigations continue.
