Belize lose to Bermuda in final cricket game at ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize National Men’s Cricket Team lost to Bermuda on Saturday in their final game at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua and Barbuda.

Bermuda won the match 89/3 to 85 in 8 overs. Belize won the toss and elected to bat first but were only able to score 85 runs in their 20 overs.

Garret Banner scored 32 runs. Bermuda’s Rodney Trott bowled 4 wickets for 15 runs in 4 overs.

Bermuda’s Allan Douglas scored 54 runs. Belize’s Glenford Banner took one wicket for 24 runs in two overs.

In other games today, the United States beat the Bahamas 91/0 to 90/7 in 12.1 overs, Panama won their first game 139/8 to 113 in 20 overs, and Canada dispatched Argentina 115/1 to 109 in 9.1 overs.

Belize finished the championship with a 1-5 record winning over Panama but losing to the US, Canada, Argentina, the Bahamas, and Bermuda.

After Saturday’s games, the United States led with a 6-0 record followed by Canada 4-1, Bermuda 3-2, Argentina 2-3, the Bahamas 2-4, Panama 1-4, and Belize (1-5).

Two matches are left for Sunday. Canada will play Panama and Argentina will face Bermuda.

With the United States already qualified to the two eight-team global qualifiers, Canada and Bermuda are vying for the second qualifying berth.
