By BBN Staff: Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Belize, H.E. David Kuan-Chou Chien, recently concluded a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde, on a number of issues.

The Taiwanese embassy notes that the Ambassador and DPM had fruitful conversations on issues regarding the promotion of the national development of Belize, as well as the friendly relations that Taiwan and Belize have enjoyed for decades.

Ambassador Chien reportedly took the opportunity to express his appreciation to DPM for the strong and staunch support of the Belizean Government for Taiwan’s participation in various international organizations.

“Both sides pledged to work closer to deepen future cooperation in enhancing the welfare and the benefits of the people of Belize,” the Embassy said.

This year also marks the 32nd anniversary of Belize and Taiwan establishing friendly diplomatic relations. During those years, under successive administrations, Belize has publicly supported Taiwan on the international level, calling for the country to be included in the processes of, and bodies of, the United Nations.
