Belize City Council congratulates Kaya Cattouse on her election to Olympic Committee Executive

Posted: Monday, November 15, 2021. 9:31 pm CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: “Congratulations are in order for our very own Councillor Kaya Cattouse on becoming the youngest member of the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (BOCGA),” said the Belize City Council.

On Saturday, Cattouse was elected as a committee member of Hilly Martinez-led BOCGA, commonly known as the Olympic Committee, but strangely enough, she was voted as committee member as a delegate of the Belize Triathlon Association and not of the Belize Cycling Association. She will serve in the position until 2025.

Cattouse is an all-around athlete having competed in several sports in Belize, including cycling, triathlon, football, basketball, and athletics, but is best known for her achievements as a cyclist.

“For years Councillor Cattouse has been a household name for her exemplary athleticism and her consistent international representation of Belize in various cycling events around the world,” said the City Council.

The statement went on to say that Cattouse is spreading her wings as she is not only a city councillor and a member of the National Sports Council but is now a member of BOCGA. According to the City Council, Cattouse “is determined to expand her outreach and contributions to other sports enthusiasts and especially, the youths of Belize”.

The Belize City Council said it is honored to have such a well-rounded and dedicated Belizean athlete serving as their Councillor responsible for Youth and Sports.

“We have all confidence that she will continue to let her talents shine in all her endeavors as a member of the BOCGA,” closed the Belize City Council.
