Verdes double up on Wagiya 21, lead FFB Top League with perfect record

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes defeated Wagiya 2-1 winning their fourth consecutive match in the FFB Top League on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Isidoro Beaton Stadium and now have the maximum of 12 points.

Junior Vargas opened the score for the Green Machine in the 24th minute and Jordy Polanco hit the second in the 51st.

Warren Moss got the consolation goal for Wagiya in the 90th minute when the game was expiring.

Also on Sunday at the same venue, the San Pedro Pirates blanked Caesar Ridge 3-0 on strikes by John King in the 7th, Facundo Garnier in the 60th and Gilroy Thurton in the 67th.

Altitude also doubled up on Belmopan’s Garden City 2-1 on Saturday in a come-from-behind win at the Isidoro Beaton. Andres Makin Junior opened the score for Garden City in the 50th minute. Veteran Ashley Torres tied the ball game in the 60th and Luis ‘Baca’ Torres gave Altitude the win from the penalty spot in the 70th minute.

After four weekends of action, Verdes lead the FFB’s Top League with 12 points. San Pedro are 2nd with 7. Altitude also with 7 are in 3rd due to the goal differential favouring San Pedro. Wagiya dropped from second to fourth with 5 points. Garden City and Caesar Ridge are still trailing with only one point apiece.
