By Rubén Morales Iglesias: A 5.8 quake shook Guatemala this morning at 10:54, according to Prensa Libre.
The tremor was felt in several places across the neighbouring country. The Guatemalan National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology, and Hydrology (Insivumeh) reported that the 5.8 quake had its epicenter in the Pacific Ocean about 51 miles from Escuintla and 71 miles from Antigua Guatemala.
The National Agency for the Reduction of Disasters (CONRED) said it was monitoring different parts of the country to find out if anyone was injured or if there was any material damage. CONRED said the tremor was felt in south and central Guatemala.
Insivumeh said that two more tremors were felt after the initial one: a magnitude 5 at 11:23 am and a 4.9 at 11.26.
On Wednesday morning, a 5.2 quake was felt in Guatemala.
