UDP and Opposition Leader Patrick Faber salute the Garinagu – Wish Belizeans happy Garifuna Settlement day

By BBN Staff: The United Democratic Party (UDP) and the Leader of the Opposition, Patrick Faber, issued a release saluting the Garinagu people and wishing all Belizeans happy celebrations on Garifuna Settlement day, observed on the 19th November each year.

The UDP release notes that “the great history of the Garinagu is one to be appreciated, admired and emulated by every Belizean”.

The release goes non highlighting that as a country and people we “have been the beneficiaries of their immeasurable contributions to our development and heritage” particularly after enduring suppression and struggle and eventually making their way to our shores.

This year’s Garifuna Settlement day is being celebrated under the theme: Au Bun, Amürü Nu Hagabüribei Garinagu; Awanse Wamá Lau – ‘I for You, You for Me’ is the Garifuna Way; Let Us Move Forward.
