Chopped for debt: police hold one in banana farm incident

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating a Garifuna Settlement Day chopping incident on Friday night in the South Stann Creek District at the Green Gold Banana Farm.

According to Wilbert Mojano, at about 7:20 p.m., whilst watching television with his friend Samuel Cal, Cal step outside for a bit when he was approached by a man known to them who asked for BZD$15 that Samuel Cal reportedly owed him.

Having allegedly not gotten what he came for, Mojano told Police, the accused got upset, retrieved a machete, and chopped Samuel Cal to the right arm.

The alleged attacker has been detained pending charges by police, who continue their investigations.
