Daniel Rios found dead on the Philip Goldson Highway, police asking the public for information

Posted: Monday, November 22, 2021. 3:40 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: Police are asking the public to assist with information to explain what happened to Daniel Rios, who was found dead on the Philip Goldson Highway on Sunday.

Officers found Rios’ body between miles 35 and 36 on the highway, with head and body injuries. Rios’ mother told police that she had spoken with him earlier in the day and that he said he was on his way to visit her in Rhaburns Ridge Village but never made it to her. She said she got a call from him around 6:00 p.m. the day that he was on the highway and that he was hurt though he did not give any other details.

Director of Communications for the Office of the Commissioner of Police, Assistant Superintendent Fitzroy Yearwood said that police are in the area, interviewing people and trying to ascertain what happened to him.

“Because there is no denotation whether he was knocked down we cannot say whether it is consistent with a road traffic accident as the time,” Yearwood said.

“We are asking the general public if they may have some form of information that they feel might be able to help us in the investigation for them to please come forward and talk to your local police, we need your help.”

He added that investigators are hoping that a pending post mortem examination would be able to shed more light on the situation by telling Rios’ exact cause of death.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to report it by either calling 922, or the nearest police station.
