Insurance advisors helping out Kidney Association of Belize, Ladyville children’s home during Insurance Awareness Week

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors (BelAIFA) is celebrating Insurance Awareness Week from Sunday, November 21, to Saturday, November 27.

The week started out on Sunday with a virtual church service at Maxboro Assembly of God Church, according to BelAIFA past president Mirna Paul Greenidge.

“BelAIFA was established in 1994 as a non-profit organization,” said BelAIFA president Carol Panton Rose. “We are a non-profit organization with the aim to educate the general public on the importance of having life insurance. Not only educate but of course provide the means by which people are able to put protection plans in place to protect their families against life’s uncertainties, death, sickness, old age. We say uncertainties but at the end of the day, these things are inevitable. Not, if they will happen, but when they will happen. And that’s the uncertainty.”

BelAIFA is comprised of insurance advisors from Sagicor Life Inc., Diversified Life Solution Brokers, RF&G Life Insurance Co., and Atlantic Insurance Ltd.

“Insurance Awareness Week is to educate the public on the importance of having protection through life insurance,” reiterated Greenidge. “We also use the week to give back by organizing a food drive and helping the Children’s Liberty Home in Ladyville

“We will be at Brodie’s downtown and on the Philip Goldson Highway as well as Publics on Friday & Saturday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm collecting canned food. The items collected will be donated to Liberty Children’s Home in Ladyville. We look forward to your contribution,” said Greenidge.

BelAIFA will also contribute from the food drive to the Marla’s House of Hope in Belmopan, the Cornerstone Foundation in San Ignacio, and they also intend to help needy families, said Panton Rose.

“We also partner with the Kidney Association of Belize to provide financial support for them to carry out their activities,” said Greenidge.

BelAIFA works not only with the Belize Kidney Association but also along with the Belize Diabetes Association. They held a telethon in March but have not reached their target and are continuing the fundraiser until November 30.

People interested in donating may do so through the Belize Kidney Association of Belize account at Atlantic Bank, the Belize Diabetes Association account at Belize Bank, the BelAIFA at Belize Bank Corp, plus a GoFundMe account.
