Prime Minister and Special Envoy on World Children’s Day: ‘A better future for every child’

Posted: Monday, November 22, 2021. 10:37 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: On the occasion of World Children’s Day on Saturday, Prime Minister John Briceño and his wife the Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, Rossana Briceño, dedicated themselves to the stated national goal of “a better future for every child.”

The P.M. and his spouse, appearing to speak from a hand-held device rather than a standard camera, observed that Belize’s children had lost so much in the last two years, and deserved to be back in school learning, protected and safe from abuse, violence, discrimination, and exploitation. No less than ten youths have lost their lives to the gun this year alone.

The Special Envoy added that Belize is seeking to vaccinate all youngsters to achieve that goal and to reiterate the importance of the rights of the child and the responsibilities we have to them.

The day was marked by a special sitting of the Children’s Parliament in Belmopan.
