By Aaron Humes: Police have named a suspect for whom they are still searching in last night’s double murder and apparent kidnapping in San Ignacio Town, Cayo District.
A home in the Santiago Juan Layout area was visited around 9:00 on Sunday night, where Police found the body of 33-year-old Jennifer Archila, a food vendor, with stab wounds and a cut across the throat. 12-year-old Nitzia Catzim, Jennifer’s daughter, was found still alive with a cut throat and immediately rushed to San Ignacio Town Community Hospital where she died of her injuries.
Police believe the suspect, 28-year-old Brian Jerry Castillo, was in a domestic dispute at the residence when he allegedly inflicted the fatal injuries, then fled on a motorcycle with his seven year old his son. The murder weapon is believed to be a kitchen knife that was found in a bushy lot beside the apartment building where the double murder occurred.
Police made searches at the home of the suspect’s father in the Lomas Del Rodeo Extension area, Benque Viejo del Carmen, and in the Arenal Road area but he has not been located as yet.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Brian Jerry Castillo is asked to call the nearest police station.
