By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Apart from cutting curfew by one hour as of today, Monday, November 22, a vaccination card will not be necessary to dine out.
Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat said on Wednesday, November 10, that we all won’t need to show a vaccination card to enter a restaurant as of November 22 as well. Restaurant owners and clients were advised by the previous statutory instrument that to enter a restaurant, clients had to show that they had been vaccinated, much to the chagrin of restaurant goers. But like with other restrictions, the Government of Belize has decided to let go the noose a little.
That requirement still stands, though, for entering government offices.
Earlier the government also allowed contact sports association to renew competitions, though fans are not yet allowed at any of the games. For now, they have to be content on getting the scores afterwards, to follow it on social media if an event is live streamed, or in the case of the FFB Top League to follow it on television.
Government also lifted the vaccination cards requirements for church goers. The churches had been up in arms when that imposition was made saying they had not agreed to it like Prime Minister John Briceño had suggested.
