By Aaron Humes: Separate sources in Guatemala and Belize have confirmed that 28 year-old Brian Castillo, wanted for the murders of his common-law partner and her daughter on Saturday night, has been captured and is in Guatemalan authorities’ custody this evening.
His son was found this morning in a neighborhood in Melchor de Mencos, Peten, and was reunited with his biological mother.
Castillo is accused of stabbing to death 33 year old Jennifer Archila and 12 year old Nitzia Catzim at their San Ignacio home Sunday night and fleeing with his seven year old son.
A video from a Guatemalan news outlet shows officers marching him in handcuffs into a police station in San Benito, Peten; he is thereafter seen speaking to reporters in Spanish.
Police here were unable to bring him in after checking with family members and setting up a checkpoint on the Arenal Road.
We continue to follow this developing story.
