By BBN Staff: Thirty-nine-year-old Shawn Steven Hertular, the man accused of the stabbing death of 49-year-old Miguel Zaiden, has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison.
Hertular appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, before Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser, where he was read a single charge of murder.
No plea was taken and bail was denied. He was remanded until January 25, 2022.
Zaiden was stabbed multiple times on the evening of Sunday, November 21, on Racecourse Street. Officers found Zaiden’s lifeless body in a pool of blood in front of Heidi’s Shop, around 7:15 p.m. Reports are that Zaiden had been socializing with several others when he got into an argument with another man who inflicted the fatal stab wounds.
