By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The National Assembly Building in Belmopan was lit up orange for the Light the World Orange Vigil on Friday night.
The Vigil was held to pray for and honor those affected by gender-based violence.
“As we light our candles, let us remember all the victims out there today and let us remember all those whose lights have been turned off,” said Ministry of Human Development CEO Tanya Santos-Neal.
Prime Minister John Briceño and Belmopan Mayor Sherman Palacio were on hand for the Vigil in the Capital.
The Light the World Orange Vigil was held virtually on Facebook and Zoom as part of the activities of the ‘You and Me – from 16 to 365: End Violence against Women Now’ initiative that started on Thursday, November 25, and extends until Friday, December 10.
