By Aaron Humes: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams confirmed that four suspects are being held and will face charges in the suspected drug plane landing in the Mountain Pine Ridge area this weekend.
One is a Corporal of Police assigned to the security detail for Director of Public Prosecutions Cheryl-Lynn Vidal; two others are residents of the San Ignacio area, and the fourth is a Mennonite man who acted as driver. Two vehicles, a .223 rifle and other items were recovered; separately, 12 thousand dollars cash unaccounted for was recovered from the Mennonite’s house.
The Corporal is a former member of the special unit commanded by Assistant Commissioner of Police Marco Vidal. The Corporal also worked in the former Gang Suppression Unit.
The Commissioner said he recognized an urgent need to control the threat of officers switching sides and selling out to the drug cartels.
