By BBN Staff: Two men have been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after allegedly robbing a woman.
Nineteen-year-old, Aaron Chavez and 24-year-old, Joshua Jeremy Gillett appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today on a single charge of robbery.
The accusation facing them is that on Friday, November 26, they robbed a woman of a bag containing her laptop, wallet, cash, identification, and ATM cards, to a total value of $2,800. In court, both men pleaded not guilty and stressed that they were just “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
The prosecution objected to bail due to the severity and prevalence of the offense, and the magistrate agreed. They were remanded to prison until December 28, 2021, when bail will be considered.
