By Rubén Morales Iglesias: As we enter the tourism high season, the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) has started enforcement operations in conjunction with partner organizations around the country.

The first of such operations were conducted over the past weekend at Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker along with the Tourism Police Unit, the Hol Chan Marine Reserve, and the Fisheries Department.

“The operations included checks on tour guide licenses, tour operator decals, and guest-to-guide ratios,” said the BTB on a social media post.

The BTB said the enforcement operations will not be limited to the islands and seas.

“The BTB with its partners will continue to conduct these operations countrywide as we enter into the Tourism high season, ensuring that the tour guide, tour operator, and hotel and tourist accommodation regulations are followed,” said the post.
