Minister of Health questioned on the continuation of curfew

By Aaron Humes: Minister of Health Michel Chebat says the curfew must remain in place to continue the protection of the public.

Responding to a question from the member for Mesopotamia, Moses “Shyne” Barrow, the Minister said that with new variants of the virus spreading including the Delta variant, the original target of 70 percent of the population to reach herd immunity was “out of the window.” Even the current level of half the population vaccinated is not good enough.

The Minister pointed out that testing has been expanded and vaccinations gradually rolled out to the point that health workers are now going house to house to vaccinate. He repeated the call to those who have yet to get jabbed to do so and to continue following the public health measures so as to continue in the right direction.
