By BBN Staff: A man from Mahogany Heights is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after a bag he found that he claims he thought had money in it, actually contained ammunition.
Twenty-five-year-old Armando Esquilliano gave a sworn testimony in court on Friday saying that when police found six 12-gauge shotgun cartridges on him in September 2020, he had assumed the jingling in the bag was coming from coins. He pushed the bag in his pocket not long before police searched him on Raccoon Street Extension.
He pleaded with the court to show leniency and impose a fine, however, after being found guilty he was sentenced to seven months in prison.
