Rumberas shock Verdes Rebels Girls 2-0, qualify to National Amateur Women League Finals

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Rumberas from Bella Vista shocked the Verdes Rebel Girls 2-0 in the National Amateur Women League (NAWL) semifinal match at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio.

The Verdes Rebel Girls were playing at home by virtue of having won the NAWL North undefeated. But today they met their match in Rumberas who had finished second in NAWL South behind Jewel Fury.

After a scoreless first half, Kelsey Polanco put the Rumberas ahead in the 52nd minute scoring from the penalty spot. Kaite Jones secured the win in the 92nd.

Rumberas will now challenge Jewel Fury in the finals after the NAWL South winner eliminated the NAWL North second-place team San Pedro Pirates 1-0 in the other semifinal in Belmopan.
