By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Central Health Region is recommending COVID-19 vaccine boosters for persons 18 years and older.
The Central Health Region, the Belize District arm of the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW), says it has Pfizer BioNTech and Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen vaccines available for persons who want to get their boosters.
Vaccinations, boosters included, are available at the Central Health Region vaccination site by the Old Nursing School, at the Matron Roberts Polyclinic, and at the Port Loyola Health Center in Belize City. In the rural area of the Belize District, vaccinations with boosters included as well are administered at the Ladyville Health Center, the Caye Caulker Health Center, and the San Pedro Lions Den.
For persons whose first two shots were AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech, and Sinopharm, a booster is recommended three months after the second dose, and for those who were vaccinated with the Janssen vaccines, the booster is recommended two months after the first dose.
For those who have been vaccinated with AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Sinopharm, the recommended booster is a Pfizer vaccine.
For those vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson Janssen vaccine, the Central Health Region is recommending a booster of the same vaccine.
